There's been a lot of activity in the Art Room and I cannot believe I haven't been keeping up with all of our achievements.
For April many of the students started and completed some really awesome masks completely made from "trash". Clean trash, of course. Lots of things that I have in the art room are donations and things I've gotten from recycling centers. Wallpaper, plastic bits, puzzle pieces, scrap paper, yarn and all sorts of fun things!! The masks are really fun.
The goal of the project was to use their imagination, creativity, building and problem solving! So exciting to see the outcomes!!
In 5th grade students are busy working on their "Character Portraits". Students in Ms. Phillips' Library class chose their favorite literary character and wrote about the character traits, likes and dislikes and the things they like about the character. Then in art, they drew a portrait of the character. The final results were awesome!!! Many of the works are located in the foyer of the school in the display cases, check them out!!!
Until next time!
Artistically yours,
Ms. McCarthy!
